The raw data is sourced from the World Soil Reference and Information Center (ISRIC)'s World Soil Information Service database WoSIS snapshot - December 2023(N.H. Batjes et al., 2023; DOI:10.5194/essd-16-4735-2024), The original data download address is: https://data.isric.org/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/e50f84e1 -aa5b-49cb-bd6b-cd581232a2ec。 The World Soil Information Service (WoSIS) provides quality assessed and standardized soil profile data to support large-scale digital soil mapping and environmental applications. The WoSIS 2023 database contains data from 228000 profiles and 45 soil properties from 174 countries and 217000 geographic reference sites. These profiles represent over 900000 soil layers and more than 6 million records. The raw data is provided in TSV format and GeoPackage format.
In order to facilitate the use of raw data, we re read TSV files in R language and extracted 10 commonly used soil attribute values (soil organic carbon, bulk density, total nitrogen, conductivity, pH, clay content, etc.) from sample points in China and surrounding areas. We re saved them as Excel files, with a total of 6037 soil profiles and 18808 measured values. This dataset can be used for resource and environmental assessment in China and surrounding regions, as well as for the comparison and integration of soil products from different sources. It also provides input parameters for model driven processes such as hydrology, biogeochemistry, and land surface processes, serving ecological agriculture zoning and food security.
