The height of the 0℃ layer is an important characteristic layer for atmospheric sounding, reflecting the temperature condition of the lower and middle layers of the atmospheric troposphere, and the rise and fall of this layer affects the mountain surface to a certain extent: the rise and fall of the 0℃ line, which in turn affects the freezing and thawing process of mountain water. The heights and temperatures of the prescribed layers at 39 high-altitude stations in western China were analysed, and the heights of the 0℃ layer in summer (June-August) were calculated and Kriging interpolated to obtain the height distribution map of the 0℃ layer in summer in the Qaidam Basin.

The raw data are observations from Chinese high-altitude meteorological stations. It contains the observation data of each prescribed isobaric surface and pressure-temperature-wetness characteristic layer potential height, temperature, dew-point temperature, wind direction and wind speed of 89 Chinese airborne observation stations obtained by the National Meteorological Information Centre through the domestic communication system.
The heights and temperatures of the prescribed layers at 39 high-altitude stations in western China were analysed to calculate the heights of the 0°C layer in summer (June-August), and the height distribution of the 0°C layer in summer in the Qaidam Basin was obtained by Kriging interpolation with a spatial resolution of 100 km.
The data quality is good.
