ALMANAC模型是一个实用型模型，最早是作为EPIC模型的一个组成部分，用于模拟因土壤侵蚀造成的土地生产力下降。ALMANAC模型可以模拟作物生长过程和土壤水分平衡过程，具体包括：作物叶片对光的截获，生物量累积，生物量在作物不同器官中的分配，作物对水分的充分利用，对养分的吸收，以及环境因子对作物生长过程的限制，如水分胁迫，温度胁迫和养分胁迫等。ALMANAC模型提供了一种UTIL编辑器。这是一个界面十分友好的数据库编辑程序，可直接为用户提供建立输入变量数据库的提示操作。
